Besides, we all know about your little trick with future picks, right JR?
So is this everybody's problem with this trade? That I am part of it? It does seem like my reputation for robbing teams in trades means any deals I make get way more scrutiny than other deals.
I don't believe JR Smith is good enough to warrant this being rejected. Another reason I don't think talent is the issue here is that this trade got accepted:
Los Angeles Lakers Trade:
74 Jordan Hill $3,500,000
74 Nick Young $1,106,942 $1,227,985
73 Wesley Johnson $916,099
73 Jordan Farmar $884,293
72 Kent Bazemore $762,195
Total: $7,169,529
Toronto Raptors Trade:
75 John Salmons $7,580,000 $7,000,000
61 Nando De Colo $1,463,000
Total: $9,043,000
Vlade gave away his entire bench for nothing. It was allowed because he said he had a plan and we knew he wouldn't abandon the league. Well Magic has been around forever and he has already said he likes his team better after this trade, both with the long term core and financial flexibility. So lets scratch that objection off the list.
Is the problem the first round pick? Because this trade got accepted:
Brooklyn Nets Send:
74 Perry Jones - $1,082,520 - $1,129,200 - $2,038,206 - $3,036,926
67 Reggie Bullock - $1,149,000 - $1,200,720 - $1,252,400 - $2,255,644 - $3,313,542
OKC 2014 1st Rounder
Total: $2,231,520
Atlanta Hawks Send:
68 Dennis Schroeder - $1,617,840 - $1,690,680 - $1,763,400 - $2,708,582 - $3,824,518
Total: $1,617,840
The Nets basically just gave away a 2014 1st when they didn't need to at all. Schroeder's value is nowhere close to two similarly positioned prospects and a first in the upcoming draft.
Are we not functioning on the idea that we allow trades so long as they don't destroy one team by leaving them without any good assets? Josh even touched on it here:
I'm gonna switch to an accept. I've been rejecting a lot recently, and I suppose this isn't really franchise crippling in any way. I still think Detroit wrecks Atlanta in this trade, but everyone else seems to really love Monroe, so maybe I'm in the minority here.
Trade passed
I'm pretty sure having a core of Carmelo Anthony, Tyson Chandler, Tim Hardaway Jr., Iman Shumpert, and Ben McLemore along with a ridiculous amount of money to spend in free agency doesn't leave the Knicks crippled.
I don't know of any other reasons this trade could be getting so much criticism apart from the fact that I'm involved.
